Job Summary
The Production Supervisor - Second Shift Leader will play a critical role in the success of our operations. This supervisory position is focused on monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes and personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate the activities of production, including reading prints and work orders, scheduling machines, and setting production goals.
- Maintain records of employee hours and attendance, complete weekly payroll, and monitor the production and assignments of employees, using Shop Floor Plus, Infor XA Power-Link, Excel, and Word.
- Supervise team leads and communicate goals, priorities, and schedules.
- Perform daily walks, inspections, reviews, and audits to monitor quality and efficiency in all production areas, troubleshooting, escalating problems to the proper department (i.e. maintenance, engineering, etc.), or requesting deviations (i.e. reworks, etc.) as necessary.
- Work with various departments (i.e. engineering, quality, shipping, etc.) to evaluate processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements for production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing approaches throughout production with a focus on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Conduct employee training in equipment operations and safety procedures.
- Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
- Implement and monitor work instructions, SOPs, and cross-training.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker complaints or grievances.
- Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as hirings, evaluations, promotions, disciplinary actions, or ways to motivate employees.
- Monitor and maintain communication boards throughout the production facility, including updating priority lists, contributing talking points for group meetings, and providing real-time machine and order status updates.
- Facilitate part processing for shipment.
- Attend various meetings, including SQDIP and safety meetings, contribute updates and recommendations, and disseminate information to others.
Requirements
- Integrity - Reliability, Responsibility, and Accountability.
- Significant experience in a manufacturing setting, including experience in a supervisory role (i.e. safety, scheduling, goal setting, and monitoring).
- Ability to monitor others and identify and solve complex problems.
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills, including working with individuals in varying roles and departments.
- General computer skills, including skill in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to learn new computer programs and software.
- Demonstrated ability to control emotions, work effectively under pressure, and multi-task.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Kaizen.
- Must be a team player and willing to adapt to an ever-changing work environment and engage in continuous personal development.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
