Health and Safety Expert

Downer Group is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Expert to support the development of our Zero Harm strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert technical advice, management system guidance, and practical support to leaders and staff across our business unit.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted advisor on all health and safety matters, providing guidance and support to leaders and employees.
  • Facilitate the development of a health and safety leadership culture within our business unit.
  • Support delivery and implementation of the health and safety strategy, ensuring performance objectives/outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.
  • Work closely with Line of Business leaders, contract managers, and employees to ensure understanding and adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents in a timely and professional manner, utilising ICAM methodology where applicable.
Qualifications
  • Practical experience within a Workplace Health & Safety or OHS related role.
  • A formal work health and safety qualification (Diploma or Degree qualified in relevant discipline).
  • Training in ICAM or equivalent investigation methodology.
  • Strong skills/experience in conducting risk assessments and verifying site safety management plans.
  • Conducting WHS/OHS management system and/or environmental management system audits, within the past two years.
  • Ability to obtain a Defence Security clearance.
