Job Summary

MQ Health is seeking two Neurosurgery Registrars to provide clinical and surgical services and contribute to the development of the unit. This full-time position is not a position recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for training, however it will allow the successful candidates an opportunity to experience surgery in a private University hospital and academic health science centre.

About the Role

  • Provide clinical management and timely treatment of patients, including inpatient and outpatient care, delegated by the clinical supervisor and the care of colleagues within the discipline.
  • Supervise and commit to accurate documentation and completion of electronic medical records to reflect clinical decisions, tests, procedures, and discharge diagnoses and instructions.
  • Make decisions concerning the patient in consultation with your immediate supervisor and team.
  • Participate in discipline/program morbidity and mortality meetings and other meetings deemed compulsory by supervisor or the Director of Medical Services.
  • Ensure compliance with the standards contained within the ACSQHC National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for accreditation.
  • Contribute to the development of the unit – both medical and non-medical – through participation in clinical research projects, preparation of articles, and/or educational events.
  • Attend all academic meetings chaired by MQN.
  • Chair and prepare Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings on a rotational basis, including Vascular, Neuro-Oncology, and Pituitary MDTs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinical supervision, training, and education in patient care environments.
  • Assist, supervise, and teach medical and health sciences students, if required.
  • Participate in relevant college training program and exam preparation.
  • Complete and provide evidence of Continuing Medical Education and Development.
