Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out field service activities on rotating machinery from various manufacturers, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Engage in field service activities away from the workshop, including travel and working in remote locations.
  • Support all activities related to the service, installation, repair, or maintenance of IPS Australia and client products.
  • Inspect and repair valves, including testing and reporting.
  • Strip, inspect, repair, rebuild, and commission machinery, providing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Supervise a team of mechanical fitters and work autonomously, ensuring effective team management and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the operation of service activities, including disassembling faulty parts and tools, and repairing or replacing defective components.
  • Fitting and assembling parts, tools, or sub-assemblies, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Provision of technical service of a varied nature, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Examination of detailed drawings or specifications to determine job, material, and equipment requirements.
  • Support the Workshop Manager in general service enquiries, including quotations, orders, and control of stock and consumables.
Work Environment:
  • Steam and gas turbines.
  • Axial, centrifugal, multistage, integrally geared compressors and expanders.
  • Screw compressors.
  • Fans and blowers.
  • Industrial gearboxes.
  • Reciprocating compressors and valves.
  • All types of rotors.

Ability to travel to field locations within Australia is required. The successful candidate will be able to work independently or as part of a team, adhering to OHS&E standards.

Requirements:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in rotating equipment.
  • Experience in project management is favorable but not essential.
  • Professional accreditation such as CPEng, NER, RPEng, RPEQ is favorable but not essential.
