Local History Officer Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional who is passionate about Local History.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to delivering quality customer services and infrastructure to the community.

About the Position:

The successful applicant will work with the Development Officer, collecting and preserving the Local History of The Hills Shire.

Duties include:

  • Coordinating the digitisation and cataloguing of items including ephemera, pamphlets, newspapers, and photographs that demonstrate the history of The Hills Shire.
  • Creating content when appropriate to record developments in The Hills Shire.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of hard copy Local Studies and Information Services collections.
  • Providing direct customer service at any of Council's libraries and processing customer transactions.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Library & Information Studies or relevant discipline.
  • Proven experience of local history.
  • Strong technology skills, including digitisation and the use of metadata.
