About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Services Professional to join our team. As an Aboriginal Law Solicitor, you will be working with eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, providing targeted culturally safe and effective legal services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Civil and Family Law Representation: Deliver generalist or family law legal services in accordance with ALS policy and procedures, including representation in litigation and dispute resolution.
  2. Law Reform Initiatives: Contribute to law reform initiatives to improve access to justice and address systemic legal issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
  3. Professional Development: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legal developments and procedures through training needs identification and attendance at relevant training sessions.
  4. Timely Delivery: Perform responsibilities to a high standard within agreed timelines and in line with ALS vision, mission and values.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  1. A minimum of 12 months experience working as a Family Law Solicitor or Generalist Solicitor.
  2. Legal qualifications and a current Practising Certificate issued by the Law Society of NSW.
  3. Understanding of the dynamics of family and domestic violence and its effect on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  4. Capacity to represent clients and undertake an advocacy role before Courts and Tribunals.
