Job Summary

As a Unit Receptionist, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service to patients, families, and staff. This dynamic ward provides care under various specialties including Gynaecology, Ear Nose and Throat, Plastic and Vascular, as well as Paediatric Surgical admissions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure seamless communication through effective handover between shifts.
  • Coordinate telephone calls and messages promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring currency of details.
  • Provide assistance with enquiries and directions for patients, visitors, and the general public.
  • Receive and create pre-admission forms, checking health insurance details and notifying patients of extra charges.
  • Admit new admissions for the day.
  • Distribute and coordinate ingoing and ongoing mail and faxes.
  • Perform photocopying and other duties as required.
  • Collaborate with the Manager or Hospital Coordinator on problems encountered while on duty.
  • Maintain positive relations with patients, family, ancillary staff, and department members.
  • Work with doctors and nurses, providing assistance with administrative tasks.

You will possess superior communication skills, with the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families, and medical staff. A knowledge of medical terminology and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to problem-solve and prioritize a busy workload. Experience in the healthcare industry is highly regarded. Patient care will be at the core of everything you do, committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
