Substation Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Substation Design Engineer to join our team in Augusta, ME.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing complex electrical utility substation designs and collaborating with CAD designers/drafters to develop drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Perform detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
  • Engineering Documentation: Develop one-line diagrams, P&C equipment selection, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate designs with other disciplines such as Substation Physical, Structural, and Civil.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs.
Requirements:
  • Education: BSEE or BSEET from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of substation equipment and its function.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Work Authorization: Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
