About the Role

We are seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Infrastructure Safety and Wellness. This is a full-time permanent position that offers a competitive salary range of $130,046 to $137,525, plus 17% superannuation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and wellness strategies aligned with university objectives.
  • Oversee safety programs, manage risk, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the university.
  • Provide guidance on health, safety, and wellness matters to senior leadership.
  • Coach and mentor staff to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on health, safety, and wellness topics.
  • Conduct investigations into incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and assess risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor performance.

About You

We are seeking a highly qualified professional with extensive experience in workplace health and safety management. Your expertise in construction, facilities management, and regulatory compliance will be essential in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Key qualifications include:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field, such as occupational health, safety, science, health, psychology, engineering, or construction management.
  • Proven experience managing health and safety in large, complex organizations and demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the varied infrastructure risks inherent to large, complex facilities and high-risk construction activities.
  • Demonstrable, substantial experience managing workplace health and safety relevant to the risk profiles of large construction or facilities management areas.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures related to health, safety, and wellness.
  • Experience with the engagement of a range of regulators, such as Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, Electrical Safety Office, Queensland Radiation Safety, Office of Gene Technology Regulator, Queensland Public Health, and Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (Biosecurity).
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Proven track record of driving positive health, safety, and wellness outcomes.
