Job Overview

The role of Data Specialist plays a pivotal part in ensuring the effective management and utilization of regional data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing geospatial data capabilities at a program level
  • Evaluating data needs, availability, and gaps
  • Negotiating and managing data sharing agreements
  • Comparing analytical tools and models for applicability to regional planning
  • Establishing and maintaining data compliance with relevant regulations
  • Providing recommendations for establishing baselines and indicators for progress evaluation
  • Fostering relationships with key stakeholders, including Environment Information Australia
  • Supporting regional planning teams in developing regional plans
  • Representing the regional planning program with data stakeholders
  • Serving as a central coordination point for regional planning data
  • Performing ad-hoc GIS tasks as needed
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to assess complex information and contextual factors
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and convey clear information
  • Experience in contract management, procurement, project management, or policy development is desirable
