Foreperson Construction

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Foreperson Construction & Maintenance to join our Works team at Mareeba Shire Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the daily operation and supervision of minor, major, and contract projects within our works program.

• Supervise and manage construction and maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Lead and motivate a team of construction and maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties.
• Develop and implement operational methodologies, ensuring compliance with Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation, as well as Local Authority practices and procedures.
• Manage and maintain equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working order and meet the required standards.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of projects.

• Proven experience in construction and maintenance, with a strong background in bridge maintenance and construction.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
• Sound understanding of job costing, quality control, and basic contract management.
• Ability to work well on your own with limited supervision, with a strong sense of initiative and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of operational methodologies, Workplace Health & Safety, and Environmental Legislation, as well as Local Authority practices and procedures.
• Sound computer skills using Microsoft applications.
