Role Overview

The Learning Support Assistant will provide support to students with diverse learning needs and abilities in a Primary and Secondary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the classroom teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities or learning needs.
  • Assist students one-on-one, in small withdrawal groups, and in class support.
  • Provide social support at break times and contribute to a productive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure students' social, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of strategies used to support students with diverse learning needs.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Commitment to quality education and a passion for supporting students reach their potential.
  • Excellent communication, administration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and educational needs of students with disabilities or learning needs.
  • Able to work within a collaborative team environment and contribute to a culture of excellence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience as a Learning Assistant or Teacher's Aide in Primary (K-6) or Secondary (7-12).
  • Special Education Support training or certification.
