Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities around the world.

Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering broadband to customers without reliable connectivity.


As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will build tools and processes for monitoring, operating, and scaling ground infrastructure to millions of users globally.

Use and enhance the tools you and your team develop.

Using metrics, scalability in design, and continuous improvement, you will automate repetitive processes to eliminate outages and ensure high availability of ground infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

  • Continuously strive for operational excellence by seeking to automate away manual processes
  • Ensure that all systems are designed to be robust, maintainable, and adaptable as the service scales over time
  • Build and maintain critical infrastructure, tools, and procedures to report on the health of ground infrastructure.
  • Integrate with existing systems such as trouble ticketing, dashboards, and metrics tools and services
  • Measure and improve the performance and availability of the Ground Infrastructure
  • Provide operations support and incident response for the service, while participating in an on-call rotation
A day in the life

Mentoring, Design, Coding, Operational Excellence:
Work with business partners, leadership, and engineers to influence and lead system design. We need your ideas and ability to take initiative, innovate, and produce results continuously improving customer experience.

Day-to-day work will vary between automation or other scripting work, operational excellence initiatives, design meetings, coordination with engineering teams and external partners, and an on-call rotation.

About the team

The team is comprised of a leader, Infrastructure Engineers, and Network Engineers in North America, Europe, and Australia.

The overall mission is to ensure Ground Infrastructure is always available to serve customers.


This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware subject to export control laws and regulations.

Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or approvals from the relevant government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and other factors considered by the applicable regulations. Required skills and qualifications include: Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure

  • Experience programming with modern languages such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
