Civic Community Engagement Specialist

At a municipal council, we seek dedicated professionals who share our commitment to fostering community values and strive to make our city an even better place to live and work.

We are seeking a highly motivated Civic Community Engagement Specialist to join our team of Communications professionals. This role involves coordinating diverse events that celebrate the diversity and pride of our community.

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a solid understanding of working in the public sector, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate civic events that promote community engagement and pride
  • Manage event logistics, risk assessments, and protocols
  • Work with stakeholders to plan and deliver events that meet community needs
  • Develop and implement effective marketing and promotional strategies
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless event delivery

Selection Criteria:
  • Ability to work in accordance with our organisational values and behaviours
  • Demonstrated experience in event organisation, including risk management, publicity, and protocols
  • Understanding of state, federal, and local government policies and regulations
  • Ability to undertake risk assessments and event planning
  • Understanding of transparency and good governance in awards and event management
  • Desirable: experience in marketing communications and promotional activities
