Empowering Vulnerable Youth Advocate

The role of a Legal Officer is to ensure the rights and interests of children and young people in the child protection system are upheld.
This involves performing advocacy functions, advising and assisting young people to access information about decisions, and advocating for their views to be considered in decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform advocacy functions in areas of law such as child protection, youth justice, education, human rights and administrative law.
- Advise and assist children and young people to uphold their rights and access information about decisions.
- Advocate for children and young people in meetings, court hearings and tribunal proceedings.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all work complies with data entry and reporting requirements.
A law degree from a recognised tertiary institution and admission or eligibility for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland are required. A current driver's licence and a Working with Children Check clearance are also necessary.
