Job Summary:

You will assist the Managing Director in managing client relationships, overseeing the delivery of tax compliance, bookkeeping, payroll, and other business services, while ensuring client satisfaction. This role combines client interaction, reviewing junior staff's work, completing tax compliance related work as well as tax planning & business advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the directors in developing and nurturing client relationships, addressing client inquiries, and providing timely and accurate information
  • Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of client jobs, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope
  • Assist in preparing special purpose financial statements, tax returns, BAS, FBT returns, and other reports and analyses for clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and tax legislation
  • Train junior accountants, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development
  • Stay current on changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards, and share knowledge with the team
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and client satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Personable – enjoys developing and nurturing client relationships, reviewing work, and assisting/training less experienced team members
  • High level of integrity and professionalism with a strong customer service orientation
  • High attention to detail
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce/business or accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and currently in a client-facing/interacting role in a public practice accounting firm
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero Tax, Xero, Quickbooks, MYOB, BGL Suite) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Thinks outside the box
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously, including meeting deadlines
  • Desirable but not necessary experience - FYI Docs, ATOMATE, Light Year Docs, Spotlight Reporting, ChangeGPS, Hubdoc
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen/Permanent Resident or have full Australian working rights at the time of application
