Assistant Director Position Overview

The Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the Centre Director in leading day-to-day operations and driving successful centre outcomes.

This senior educator position involves mentoring and developing team members, ensuring high-quality education and care services.

Job Summary
  • Work closely with the Centre Director on daily operations and cover their duties when needed.
  • Develop positive relationships with team members, children, and families.
  • Lead educational program development and delivery across multiple rooms.
  • Seek feedback, actively listen, and take action to improve ideas or resolve concerns.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, time management, organisational, written, and verbal skills.
  • Foster quality improvement and support teams to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Display initiative, motivation, and flexibility while maintaining a mature approach.
  • Be available for part-time or full-time hours on rotating shifts between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm.
Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
  • Diploma in Children's Services or equivalent qualification.
  • Current Senior First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma certificates.
  • State-relevant Working with Children Check, Blue Card, or Safety Screening.
  • Current Child Protection Training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing multiple demands, prioritising tasks, and effective time management.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience as an Assistant Director or Lead Educator ready for leadership.
  • Knowledge of Qikkids and Educa (or similar platforms).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Facebook.
