Structural Engineer - A Key Role in Ship Building

This is a key opportunity for experienced Structural Engineers to join our team in Sydney.

Job Description:
  • Deliver structural elements and analyses for naval ships, including hull structure, equipment foundations and other system responsibilities.
  • Provide high level of engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.
  • Complete structural systems design for naval ship systems, applying robust systems engineering process.
  • Perform first principle structural calculations to the required standards.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (using ANSYS software package) for complex tasks.
  • Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification.
  • Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established industry standards.
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Naval Architect / Aeronautical).
  • Proven skills and experience in a Structural or Naval Architecture function.
  • Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of structures (particularly, ship) and material (particularly, steel) Properties.
  • Experience in Finite Element Modelling and Analysis (preferably ANSYS).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills.
