Job Opportunity: Environment and Planning Associate in Melbourne

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated lawyer to join our national Environment and Planning team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will work directly with experienced partners on high-profile projects, advising clients on environmental and planning issues.

The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of post-qualification experience in environment and planning law, with strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills. They will be passionate about the energy and infrastructure sectors and have a keen interest in optimising approval pathways for new projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients on environmental assessments, planning appeals, and biodiversity offsets;
  • Optimising approval pathways for new projects;
  • Working closely with the wider Property team and Corporate team on market-leading work;
  • Contribution to the success and growth of the team, with fantastic career development and mentoring opportunities;
  • Participating in practices that support wellbeing, mental wellness, and work-life balance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with 3-6 years' post-qualification experience in environment and planning law;
  • Strong interest in the energy and infrastructure sectors;
  • Commercially aware and able to communicate complex ideas effectively;
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills;
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, high-performing team and rapidly growing national practice.
