About the Role

We're seeking an Assistant Accountant to support our business growth. This exciting opportunity will involve playing a key role in financial processes, ensuring accuracy across reconciliations, journal entries, and compliance requirements. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, you'll assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting while providing support across accounts payable and receivable as needed.

This role requires someone with a keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset to develop their finance skills in a collaborative environment. You'll be responsible for:

  • Preparing monthly management accounting reports to meet accounting period deadlines.
  • Assisting with profit and loss analysis and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
  • Performing weekly bank reconciliations.
  • Supporting rolling forecasts and cash flow analysis.
  • Maintaining the Fixed Assets register.
  • Supporting indirect tax reporting and reconciliations.
  • Assisting with year-end audit tasks.
  • Providing KPI and metric reporting, and ad-hoc reporting and analysis for the CFO and other stakeholders.
  • Offering support with Accounts Payable and Receivable functions as required.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with OHS policies and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Bachelor of Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Working towards CPA/CA qualification.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong problem-solving and lateral thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Team-oriented and able to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Commercial and outcome-focused.
  • Previous experience in wholesale or retail industries highly regarded.
  • System experience with ERP systems, specifically NetSuite, highly regarded.
