Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their team on a Contract basis in either Melbourne or Sydney.

This role aligns with a Senior Software Developer/DevOps Engineer, focusing on modernizing the Client's Element Management System (EMS) integration and development capabilities, and establishing robust, automated CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will lead software lifecycle upgrade projects (analysis, design, development, testing, deployment), refactor existing codes in Python, Java, and C# into new, optimized OS baselines for performance, scalability, and maintainability, and develop, integrate, and customize software for Cisco and Ericsson EMS platforms in line with vendor standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Development & Modernization:
    • Lead software lifecycle upgrade projects (analysis, design, development, testing, deployment)
    • Refactor existing codes in Python, Java, and C# into new, optimized OS baselines for performance, scalability, and maintainability
    • Develop, integrate, and customize software for Cisco and Ericsson EMS platforms in line with vendor standards
  • DevOps & Automation:
    • Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
    • Automate build, test, and deployment processes
    • Develop automation scripts with Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform for provisioning and configuration management
    • Manage containerized applications with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Monitoring, Logging & Alerting:
    • Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure system health and optimize performance across environments
  • Telco-Specific Focus & Integration:
    • Design and develop complex customized scripting and scheduled jobs for Telco customers
    • Collaborate with major software vendors to integrate solutions with new OS baselines
    • Contribute to projects for prominent Telco customers

Required Skills & Experience

  • Core Programming: Proficiency in Python, Java, and C# for large-scale application development and system integration
  • DevOps & Automation: Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines; automation tools (e.g., Ansible); version control (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket); Kubernetes and Docker; hands-on EMS experience with Cisco and Ericsson
  • Telco Domain Knowledge: Experience in OSS/BSS/EMS environments; familiarity with major Telco equipment suppliers; experience with customized scripting and scheduled jobs for Telco projects (e.g., NBN, Optus, TPG)
  • Preferred Technical Familiarity (mandatory): Ericsson Network Manager (ENM), Ericsson Dynamic Activation (EDA), Cisco Crosswork Network Controller (CNC), AXIROX ACS (AXESS & AXTRACK)
  • Problem-Solving & Collaboration: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate across development, operations, and vendor teams
