Accountant Role Overview

 

The primary objective of this position is to provide expert accounting support to the finance team, ensuring the integrity of our financial systems and driving strategic business decisions through accurate reporting and compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain General Ledger (GL) accounts including journal entries, month-end closing, and account analysis.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate BAS, WHT, FBT, and other statutory filings in compliance with Australian taxation and regulatory standards.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met with high accuracy.
  • Assist with forecast and budget preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation within the finance function.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA/CPA qualification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally within a mid-to-large-sized organization.
  • Strong hands-on experience with General Ledger (GL) accounting and reconciliations.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian tax regulations and compliance (GST, WHT, PAYG, Superannuation, etc.).
  • Previous experience using Oracle or another large ERP platform an advantage.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • A continuous improvement attitude with the ability to contribute to business process enhancements.
