Job Overview

This Senior Legal Specialist position reports directly to the Senior Legal Counsel. The primary responsibilities involve providing high-quality legal support to the Legal, Compliance, and Company Secretariat team.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in mining and resources, with Spanish language proficiency being highly desirable. This role requires excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Correspondence Preparation: Prepare correspondence for the CLCO Team in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Document Drafting: Prepare initial drafts of standard documents from precedents, including confidentiality agreements, consultancy agreements, and variations.
  • Contract Execution: Create execution summaries and coordinate signing of contracts.
  • Precedent Management: Update and maintain the precedent register, tracking renewal dates and reminding owners of review requirements.
  • Third-Party Terms Review: Review third-party terms and conditions, making recommendations and amendments as needed.
  • Legal Matter Management: Assist the CLCO Team in managing legal matters, including transactions and disputes.
  • Risk Identification: Identify and assist with managing legal risks.
  • Research and Support: Conduct legal research as required and provide support to the Company Secretariat.
  • Process Development: Prepare and maintain processes and procedures for effective contract administration.
  • Monitoring and Compliance: Assist with monitoring and compliance functions, including integrity checks on new and existing suppliers.
About You
  • Educational Background: Degree in Law.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of two years' experience as a paralegal or related legal role.
  • Technical Skills: Highly capable in Microsoft 365 and other office software (LawVu and SharePoint desirable).
  • Personal Qualities: High level of initiative, good team player, strong work ethic, ability to effectively prioritise, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Linguistic Skills: Proficient in Spanish (desirable).
