Job Overview

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and support for mental health programs
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and deliver evidence-based treatments
  • Participate in clinical supervision and multidisciplinary consultations
  • Assist with the design and development of assessment and treatment tools
  • Prepare detailed reports including parole board submissions and psychological advice
  • Develop strong partnerships with internal staff, community organizations, and local stakeholders

Key Qualifications And Professional Registration
  • Professional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist (provisional through senior registration levels)
  • Postgraduate experience delivering individual counselling, ideally within correctional, welfare, or institutional settings
  • The ability to integrate theories of mental health and forensic risk assessment frameworks into clinical practice
  • A caring nature and commitment to prisoner rehabilitation, including completing risk assessments, delivering individual therapeutic counselling, and preparing defendable documentation
  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • A solid understanding of evidence-based practices in the assessment and intervention of diverse psychological and behavioural presentations
  • Knowledge of social and clinical variables associated with significant offense categories is desirable
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
