Coxswain (Deckhand) Job Description

At Quicksilver Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coxswain (Deckhand) to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with navigation of the vessel as directed by the Master;
  • Provide exceptional customer service to passengers;
  • Ensure the provision of safe and efficient rope handling and maintenance of ships lines and mooring equipment;
  • Assist with docking of vessels and ensure the general cleanliness of the vessel in area of responsibility;
  • Support the Master, Mates, and Senior Cruise Attendant in their roles;
  • Participate in safety drill demonstrations for passengers and undertake public relations with passengers;
  • Operate the Glass Bottom Boats and Semi-subs, including completing ships log books and delivering informative and entertaining interpretive commentaries;
  • Maintain a solid working knowledge of safety procedures, including Abandon Ship Procedures, Fire Fighting Procedures, and Man Overboard Rescue routines.

Requirements:

  • Current Coxswain Certificate (NC1);
  • Current RSA;
  • Current Provide First Aid and CPR;

Prior experience in the Marine Tourism Industry and knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef are highly regarded.
