About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Parklife Metro, a leading consortium delivering a landmark metro rail infrastructure project in Greater Western Sydney.

As a key member of our project team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget, and to the specified quality.

Your responsibilities will include planning, procuring materials and subcontractors, and managing the construction of civil, road, precinct, and landscaping works. You will also be responsible for providing support and advice on planning and design suitability, managing the operational aspects of project delivery, and ensuring site-specific management plans are implemented.

To be successful in this role, you will require a Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Project Management, with 7+ years of experience in the Construction industry. Previous exposure to Civil works is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money, and best practice are achieved.
  2. Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
  3. Ensure site-specific management plans are implemented.
  4. Monitor and control documentation flow between Engineers, Consultants, Subcontractors, and Parklife Metro JV ensuring that all parties are working from current documentation.
  5. Ensure the construction related aspects of the project meet or exceed the required performance targets in relation to time, cost, and quality.
  6. Maintain and monitor the progress of work and advise the Area Manager of significant changes and proposed remedial action.
  7. Manage cost control for certain aspects of the project in order to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget.
  8. Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the project package of works.
  9. Encourage commitment from team members to the achievement and/or bettering of project budget.
  10. Prepare project reports.
  11. Monitor cost versus budget and assess allowances made for risk items.
  12. Produce and distribute daily costings and identify patterns and trends.
  13. Review and recommend subcontractor and supplier progress payments and provide input to cost recoveries and subcontractor variation claims.
  14. Negotiate in conjunction with the Area Manager final prices for subcontractors ensuring that subcontracts are then formalised prior to the commencement of site works.
  15. Conduct team/toolbox meetings.
  16. Lead, support, and manage the site staff to ensure they are fulfilling their role, responsibilities, and specific tasks.
  17. Maintain regular site meetings to foster understanding, participation, and enthusiasm.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Project Management
  2. 7+ years experience within the Construction industry
  3. Previous exposure to Civil works required (utilities, landscaping, roads, services, pits & conduits etc).
