Electrical Engineer for Renewable Energy Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in designing, constructing, and operating renewable energy systems. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the technical aspects of MV/HV electrical engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical design tender reports for HV/LV equipment up to 500kV
  • Develop primary equipment design deliverables, feasibility studies, reports, programs, and cost estimating for HV substations
  • Review HV plant aspects of various projects, including HV layouts, earthing designs, and mechanical interlocking
  • Attend and chair design review and hazard review meetings
  • Support contractual negotiations with EPC contractors regarding technical areas such as HV electrical engineering, equipment specifications, testing, and commissioning
  • Collaborate with the FEED team to explore new market opportunities for solar applications, including hydrogen, off-grid, battery, and reactive mode applications
  • Assess risks on HV connections, projects execution, and advise engineering teams for solutions

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working as a design engineer/manager for a consultancy or TSO in EHV systems or HV/LV systems
  • Working knowledge of MV/HV equipment, including switchgear, transformers, protections, underground/OH lines, and other MV/HV equipment
  • Extensive field experience of MV/HV deployment and associated good practice installation of such equipment
  • Familiarity with commissioning tests for renewable installations
  • Experience in power systems for renewable installations, including HV substations and control
  • Familiarity with PV industry and PV systems, including inverters, transformers, cabling
  • Familiarity with electrical protections calculations and earthing design for MV and HV systems
  • Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for renewable applications

  • Fluent English spoken and written, current Australian driving license, additional languages a plus
