
Crop Production Specialist

Our client is seeking a seasoned professional to oversee the cultivation, growing and maintenance of a diverse range of crops. This role may involve working in an indoor facility or outdoor setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Procuring necessary inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and chemicals
- Managing planting operations to ensure optimal yields
- Coordinating irrigation requirements to meet crop needs
- Ensuring adequate fertilization and plant nutrition programs are implemented
- Developing and implementing integrated pest management (IPM) and weed control strategies
- Recruiting and managing farm workers to achieve production goals
- Overseeing harvest operations and coordinating relevant logistics
- Maintaining equipment and facilities to ensure efficient and safe operations
The ideal candidate will have at least one year's experience in horticulture or farming, with a strong understanding of best practices and excellent teamwork, reliability and attention to detail skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Crop Management: Develop and implement effective crop management plans to optimize yields and quality
- Irrigation Management: Coordinate irrigation schedules to meet crop water requirements
- Pest and Weed Control: Implement IPM and weed control strategies to minimize chemical use and maximize crop health
- Farm Worker Management: Recruit, train and manage farm workers to achieve production goals
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations
Requirements:
- At least one year's experience in horticulture or farming
- Strong understanding of best practices in crop management, irrigation, pest and weed control, and farm worker management
- Excellent teamwork, reliability and attention to detail skills
