Job Summary:

  • As a Yard Strapper, you will be responsible for ensuring that freight is securely prepared for transport. This involves conducting checks on load restraints and packaging before transport, strapping and restraining freight safely and efficiently, and reporting any damages to freight or equipment promptly.

About the Role:

">
  • This is a casual position with a PM shift from 1:00pm - 4:00pm range start.
  • The role is based at Altona Depot.

Responsibilities:

">
  • Conduct checks on load restraints and packaging before transport.
  • Strap and restrain freight safely and efficiently.
  • Report any damages to freight or equipment promptly.
  • Maintain safety standards and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Secure freight to trailers using strap and utilising corflute and angles where needed.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and tools to ensure safety and effectiveness.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and drivers.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure all freight is labelled correctly.
  • RF Scanning of all freight coming inward/outward.
  • Cubic scanning all inward freight.
  • Supporting operations staff and linehaul drivers as required.
  • Opening and shutting tautliner trailers and removing and installing truck gates.
  • Cleaning up the yard, including sweeping, rubbish removal, and general maintenance.

Requirements:

">
  • Relevant experience with general freight.
  • Strong attention to detail, a 'can do' attitude, and commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Experience in transport/logistics or yard work.
  • Strong knowledge of freight handling (tautliners, straps, pallets, gates, curtains).
  • Forklift licence an advantage but not required.
  • A strong work ethic, physical fitness, and positive team attitude.
