Senior Engineer - Power System Strategy

As a Senior Engineer in our Power System Strategy team, you will play a key role in ensuring the long-term security and reliability of the National Electricity Market power system. You will lead projects to identify, quantify, and resolve the challenges emerging in the power system as the generation mix and energy market evolve.

About the Role

  • Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement and consultations for the work being undertaken, providing strategic advice across AEMO.
  • Coordinate power system studies and investigations into forthcoming key events and milestones, applying findings to improve operational and planning processes.
  • Facilitate the development of agreed company positions on future technical needs and proposed regulatory changes, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to leverage the full range of skillsets across AEMO.
  • Develop and support a range of communications, including reports and recommendations suitable for the Executive, Board, and external publication, clearly articulating complex technical matters in an accessible way to a broad audience.

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with a power system focus or equivalent relevant discipline or work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary projects over a wide range of power system operational or planning issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, review, and finalise high-quality technical documentation and reports.
  • Proactive and self-driven, outcomes-focused in working towards strategic objectives and ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
