A role for a Psychologist in a Correctional Setting

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team at Ravenhall Correctional Centre. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals facing the dual stigma of mental illness and offending.

The successful candidate will work with prisoners who have mental illness, conducting court-ordered psychological assessments, providing individual and group interventions, and contributing to clinical practice and program development.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires knowledge of clinical forensic psychology, including forensic assessments and offender interventions. The ideal candidate will have experience working with offenders, particularly those with personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive psychological services and treatment advice.
  • Conduct specialist assessments and prepare reports as needed.
  • Provide individual and group interventions.
  • Participate in patient risk assessments and management.
  • Contribute to clinical practice and program development.
Requirements:
  • Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (APAC accredited) or Forensic Psychology (APAC accredited).
  • Registration with AHPRA.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, mental health, and criminal justice systems.
