Key Roles and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to elevate your career and make a difference in the educational advancement, mental health, and wellbeing of students.

The successful candidate will support students across the Diocese, with a preferred base in Ballarat. However, the opportunity exists to work from Horsham or Warrnambool. As a full-time, ongoing position, you will have the chance to work collaboratively in various educational settings alongside dedicated colleagues.

Our psychologists combine onsite school visits with online consultations, providing flexible and impactful services. The role involves:

  • Leading whole-school approaches to student wellbeing and inclusive education
  • Providing early intervention programs targeting social, emotional, and behavioural development for students at risk
  • Delivering professional learning for staff and families to build capacity in addressing diverse student needs and improving educational outcomes
  • Conducting assessments and diagnoses related to learning, behavioural, and psychological development
  • Designing and evaluating individual and group interventions to address barriers to learning and development
  • Maintaining student records, providing consultation, and crisis support, and collaborating with professionals to inform best practices and school policies

Key Selection Criteria include:

  • Demonstrated understanding of how Catholic ethos and principles inform the work of a psychologist
  • Demonstrated capability to conduct psychometric assessments, analyse, and interpret psychometric and educational data
  • Ability to foster effective processes that encourage whole-school approaches to educational programs, student wellbeing, and behaviour management
  • Ability to promote a culture of collaboration, high-level interpersonal, and communication skills
