About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compliance Trainee to join our Australia Compliance team. As a Compliance Trainee, you will play a key role in supporting the team with day-to-day Compliance tasks and project-based activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Responsible for tracking all interactions with Australia regulators in an organized and auditable manner.
  • Regulatory Response: Responsible for responding to some Regulator inquiries either in written form (drafting documented responses) or on conference calls.
  • Compliance Implementation: Responsible for executing the implementation of the supporting documentation required to meet the regulatory requirements of all SG Australian entities.
  • Compliance Controls: Contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization.
  • Task Execution: Responsible for the execution of some controls and approvals, especially Personal account dealing approvals and tracking and visitors management and tracking.
  • Compliance Training: Responsible for preparatory work related to Compliance training program.
  • Regional Reporting: Responsible for production of regional reporting and other regional projects as required.
  • Committee Support: Assist Compliance management with the preparation of Committee meeting materials.
  • Compliance Obligations: Other daily tasks include assisting the compliance team to manage day to day compliance obligations, and compliance team mailbox management.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Remain up to date on the legislative, regulatory environment that SG operates in.
  • Compliance Resource: Create compliance resource library for staff members to reference.
  • Policy Review: Review existing policies that require review and updating.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Law and another discipline (e.g. Arts, Commerce, Economics or Science) or Business degree.
  • Technical Skills: Competent in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office generally.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of Australian laws, regulations and guidelines in relation to banking and financing activities and a working knowledge of related areas of law and regulatory environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies.

  • Communication: Analytical skills as well as strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex regulatory and legal issues.
  • Professionalism: Discipline and professionalism with an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Time Management: Time management skills including a capacity to manage multiple tasks and the ability to prioritize tasks as relevant.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently.

  • Language Skills: High proficiency in spoken and written English.
