Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Australia - Hydropower (Powerhouse Cavern)

Our client, a prominent player in the engineering sector, is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to a significant pump storage hydro project in Australia. This role involves overseeing the comprehensive design of the underground Power Station within a joint venture framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  2. Address any identified non-compliance issues through direct communication with client representatives on-site, and prepare observation reports for client review.
  3. Engage in optional front surveys alongside client geologists.
  4. Assist in the development of monitoring tools for the Power Station Complex, ensuring the timely installation of monitoring sections and measurement frequency.
  5. Analyze critical auscultation data to apply observational methods in cavern assessments.
  6. Participate in drafting and issuing analytical deliverables related to the observational method.
  7. Attend Geotechnical Management Meetings (GMM) and Project Team Meetings (PTT).
  8. Support the maintenance of records, including geotechnical parameter tracking and correspondence documentation.
  9. Collaborate with the Head Office team to update models and perform retro-analysis by providing essential auscultation data.
  10. Foster a collaborative team environment among the on-site resident team.

Prerequisites:

Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree (Bac +5) in Engineering, specializing in geotechnics and underground structures.

Experience: A minimum of 5 to 10 years, with substantial on-site experience in relevant projects.

Key Competencies:

  1. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  2. Strong communication skills.
  3. Meticulous attention to detail.
  4. Technical curiosity and a proactive approach.

Software Proficiency: Essential: Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Recommended: AutoCAD.

Sectoral Experience: Experience in tunnel and/or underground construction projects is essential.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required.

Salary Package and Rotation:

  1. Monthly Salary: 12,000 euros net (AUD equivalent).
  2. Rotation: 5 days on / 2 days off or 14 days on / 7 days off.
  3. Annual leave based on 5 weeks/year.
  4. Accommodation provided by the client.
