About the Role

CareSouth is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide individualized 24/7 support for young people living in our Goulburn program. Our young people come from a background of trauma, and we are looking for someone who will work with their strengths to see them thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote a consistent and considered person-centered approach to the direct care of young people who reside in residential care, ensuring individual needs are met.
  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention, maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, and encourage young people to develop their social and living skills.
  • Undertake household and daily general duties, participate in regular team and organizational meetings, and training.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the safety of children, young people, and people with a disability.
  • Qualifications in Residential Care, a Certificate IV in Community Services, Welfare, or other related areas.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver services based on an understanding of the impact of trauma on behavior and development of children and adults.
  • Understanding of or experience in implementing therapeutic interventions and behavior management strategies.
  • A positive attitude to engaging with children and young people in a nurturing environment under a therapeutic model.
  • Demonstrated experience in being able to manage duties associated with home management.
  • The ability to work independently and under limited supervision.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the team by supporting colleagues through clear and effective communication, sharing of appropriate and relevant information, and working cooperatively with others.
  • Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings, and sleepovers.
