Battery Energy Storage Systems Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Battery Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join our team in the design and development of battery energy storage systems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and experience in the design and implementation of battery energy storage systems.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing conceptual layouts and one-line diagrams for grid-scale battery energy storage systems
  • Evaluating and analyzing energy storage technologies, products, and vendors
  • Supporting clients with technology and vendor selection and implementation
  • Developing detailed electrical engineering designs for microgrid and distributed energy resources projects
  • Reviewing and developing engineering design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction documents at various design milestones
  • Coordinating with civil, structural, fire & life safety, high-voltage electrical, SCADA/telecommunications, water, and geotechnical engineers to develop complete Issue For Construction design packages
  • Participating in design reviews with stakeholders including governing and permitting agencies

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of BESS, distributed generation, renewables, electrical distribution, or power system controls. The candidate should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to effectively support multiple complex and time-sensitive projects, and have a strong understanding of BESS technologies and their integration into traditional power generation and renewables generation facilities.

Key Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering degree with a focus on Power Systems or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in the design and development of BESS systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
