Public Art & Community Engagement Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Public Art & Community Engagement Specialist to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop and deliver public art projects that celebrate local stories and promote artistic growth.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with artists, community groups, and partners to conceptualize and implement public art projects that showcase regional talent and transform community spaces.
  • They will be responsible for managing exhibition logistics, including contracts, installation plans, artwork handling, freight, and condition reporting, ensuring seamless delivery and showcasing exceptional artworks in line with professional standards.
  • The ideal candidate will also oversee the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, guaranteeing safe and efficient operations in accordance with health and safety standards, while training, rostering, and supervising installation staff and/or volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
  • The Public Art & Community Engagement Specialist will plan, coordinate, and deliver public art projects that have a lasting impact on the community.
  • They will support the care, safety, accurate documentation, and professional presentation of artworks, adhering to gallery standards.
  • Additionally, they will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes and foster long-term partnerships.
Requirements & Nice To Have
  • A tertiary qualification in visual arts, arts administration, exhibition design, or community arts and cultural development is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in planning and delivering exhibitions, with a high level of practical skill and manual dexterity relevant to gallery installations, is essential.
