Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is committed to ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in emergency situations.
The organisation comprises the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, supporting volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
This collaborative approach delivers improved safety outcomes for the community. To contribute to this effort, we seek an Auxiliary Firefighter.
About the Role:The role involves responding to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team. Additionally, it requires promoting community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
As an Auxiliary Firefighter, you will develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses provided by QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
Maintaining the required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training is essential, as well as operating specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
You will also contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities, ensuring maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required.
In this role, you will promote a positive team approach in all work activities, comply with legislative, policy, and procedural requirements appropriate to the position, communicate effectively with QFES personnel, other emergency service providers, and the general community.
Requirements:- Employer's written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
- Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
- Australian Permanent Resident Status
- Manual C Class driver's licence
- Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team
- Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities
- Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses provided by QFES
- Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training

The estimated salary range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on the company's current compensation structure and location. Note that salaries may vary based on individual qualifications and experience.
