Backend Software Engineer - TypeScript and AWS

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer with expertise in TypeScript and AWS to join our team.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented engineer to shape the technical direction of our organization, influencing everything from customer-facing platforms to critical internal systems.

You will play a key role in driving the adoption of Generative AI, designing scalable systems, reusable patterns, and engineering best practices in this fast-evolving space.

The Payments Software Engineering team resides in the Payments Service Utility and its purpose is to transform the Payments services experiences provided by the Bank to 99.999% availability, greater agility and reliability.

About the Role
  • Technical Strategy: Own and evolve technical strategy across medium to complex engineering initiatives.
  • Program Management: Lead strategic programs of work, including proof-of-concept development.
  • Architectural Guidance: Provide architectural guidance and thought leadership across teams.
  • Mentorship: Champion engineering best practices and mentor other engineers.
  • Troubleshooting: Guide teams through complex troubleshooting and system design challenges.

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. Experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:

  • Backend application development experience using TypeScript/Nodejs and REST APIs.
  • Solid knowledge of OAuth2 and MTLS.
  • Serverless computing using AWS (AWS Lambda, API Gateway, IAM Roles & Policy, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB).
  • Database knowledge: Relational databases, as well as data warehousing and NoSQL databases.
  • Infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, or SST.
  • Experience in working in a DevOps environment and contributing to the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Proficiency in microservices architecture, design patterns, and best practices in software programming.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Observe and CloudWatch.
  • Experience in performance tuning while building high-throughput and resilient applications.
