Job Opportunity
We're seeking a seasoned Visual Effects Specialist to join our team for a 3-6 month contract. As a key member, you'll be responsible for creating complex CG effects and bringing naturalistic or magical phenomena to life in high-end films.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Create particle, rigid-body, fluid, cloth, fur, and hair simulations or animations that surpass expectations.
- Apply lighting and shaders to produce the final rendered image or pass simulations to a Lighting Technical Director.
- Work with various commercial and proprietary FX tools, including Maya and Houdini.
- Collaborate with other departments to deliver shots to the highest standard.
- Determine design solutions needed to create effects and work with the team to implement them.
- Design and create images, elements, effects, pipelines, tools, and techniques that meet industry standards.
- Help design solutions involving procedural approaches to create required effects.
- Produce reviewable composites of all FX elements for a shot.
Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of Maya and Houdini, with a strong focus on optimization and efficiency.
- Thorough understanding of FX simulation and procedural animation techniques and technologies.
- Extensive experience producing effects like smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, and explosions, as well as simulation techniques for rigid-bodies, cloth, and hair.
- Good understanding of animation and an eye for motion.
- Familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packages.
- Working knowledge of at least one compositing application (e.g., Nuke) and solid understanding of the compositing process.
- Strong Python and/or Vex, Mel scripting skills.
