Empower Lives as a Support Specialist

The Support Specialist role involves working with individuals who are experiencing suicidal crisis or distress. This position focuses on providing rapid, practical support to people in need.

This non-clinical support service works within a recovery framework and collaborates with other services to build independence, community integration, and healing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop individualized case plans for clients and implement safety planning.
  • Provide ongoing support sessions with clients, reviewing their progression and safety needs.
  • Support family, carers, friends, and kin involvement in client care.
  • Collaborate with other support services and organisations to coordinate case plan requirements.
  • Deliver group programs that address the practical needs of clients.
  • Assist clients in transitioning out of the service into independence or other services.
  • Ensure accurate documentation according to established protocols.
Requirements for Success:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant relevant work experience.
  • Sound understanding of mental health, suicidality, and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Experience working within a peer workforce with trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practice and valuing lived experience.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention services and their functions.
  • Case management experience.
  • Computer literacy preferably using Windows.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.

Before starting work, you will undergo national police history checks, qualification checks, referee checks, and clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
