Providing expert care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses requires a high level of skill and compassion. As a Staff Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering patient-centered care that meets the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.

About the Role

  • To conduct initial assessments of patients referred to palliative care services, including symptom management, psychosocial needs, and ongoing care planning for a specialist inpatient unit at a hospital.
  • Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and extensive experience working in Palliative Medicine, with a minimum of 3 years postgraduate training, including qualifications such as FAChPM and/or FRACP.
  • Demonstrated skills and attitudes suitable for practice as a senior medical practitioner, including high-level interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of national and state priorities for palliative care services, and sound clinical knowledge in Palliative Medicine, with evidence of successful clinical practice in an environment meeting the position's requirements.

  • Highly skilled and experienced medical practitioner with a passion for palliative care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary palliative care service provision, with a commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Interest in teaching and education, with experience in mentoring junior medical staff and other team members.
