**Job Overview**

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Policy Advisor to join their team in Brisbane. As a key member of the organization, you will provide critical support to the Manager Fatigue and Human Factors by developing and implementing policy advice and strategic planning for safety management, human factors, and fatigue.

About the Role:

  • You will assist in developing and implementing policy advice and strategic planning for Safety Management and Human Factors, including fatigue.
  • Provide advice to inform decision-making on evaluating the effectiveness of Safety Management systems (SMS) and Fatigue Risk Management Systems (FRMS).
  • Develop and implement strategic heavy vehicle policy aligned with the NHVR's broader strategic plan.
  • Conduct research on relevant topics, analyze data, issues, and trends, and prepare evidence-based policy proposals, briefings, and correspondence.
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, evaluating, and improving strategic and operational policy, procedures, guidelines, and regulations relevant to the NHVR.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry, and other stakeholders, representing the NHVR as required.

  • Managing projects or tasks to achieve specific objectives in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research, analysis, and problem-solving skills, demonstrated by preparing clear and concise reports, briefings, and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team providing high-quality policy advice and project support.
