Category Management Role

We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Category Manager to support our mining and steel operations. This role is responsible for managing services contracts, overseeing pricing and rate negotiations, and driving value through strategic procurement.

The successful candidate will have a strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and contract management experience. They will be proficient in SAP (particularly spend analysis, outline agreements, and payment terms) and Microsoft Office.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years' procurement experience, ideally in the mining or manufacturing industry. They will hold tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. The ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with competing priorities is essential. A commitment to safety, governance, and continuous improvement is also required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage contracts related to mining and associated services
  • Lead rate, pricing, quotation, and payment term negotiations
  • Develop and implement category management and sourcing plans aligned with business needs
  • Conduct spend analysis and establish/maintain outline agreements in SAP
  • Collaborate with Buyers and fellow Category Managers to optimise procurement outcomes
  • Oversee contract performance, compliance, and dispute resolution, ensuring value delivery
  • Provide procurement advice and support to operational and management stakeholders
  • Maintain strong supplier and contractor relationships to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years' procurement experience, ideally in the mining or manufacturing industry
