About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Leader to join our team as a Despatch Superintendent at GFG-Alliance. This is a permanent leadership role that requires a strong focus on team management, transportation planning, and logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage Performance: Oversee the performance of the Despatch team, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
  • Transport Capacity Planning: Develop and implement transportation plans to optimize freight and logistics operations.
  • Carrier Performance Management: Manage relationships with transport providers, ensuring high-quality service and cost-effective solutions.
  • Logistics Initiatives: Implement and manage logistics initiatives to drive cost savings, service improvements, and safety enhancements.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategies to drive down delivery and freight/handling costs.
  • Transport Planning and Load Picking: Analyze orders to optimize transport planning and load picking to meet targets.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, leading safety improvement initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Proven leadership experience in a similar role within a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Logistics Qualifications: Any formal qualifications in logistics will be highly regarded.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with all levels of the business.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve and manage a variety of challenges and priorities.
  • Attention to Detail: Great attention to detail, specifically in relation to accurate record keeping and document preparation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills with MS Office and exposure to SAP systems desirable.
