Field Service Technician Job Description

FIFO Mechanical Technicians are required to diagnose and complete less complex repairs to engines at the customer's site in Western Australia. This role involves working on engine issues, performing preventative maintenance, and escalating unresolved problems.

The ideal candidate will have a background in engine technology, possess excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Field Service Technicians must be able to identify additional service opportunities with customers and participate in ongoing training to develop their skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair engine issues using specialized tools and documented procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance activities on engine components in the field.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to experienced team members or supervisors as needed.
  • Complete necessary documentation, such as service records and warranty claims.
  • Identify further service possibilities with customers.
  • Participate in continuous learning programs to enhance technical expertise and business acumen.
Requirements:
  • A combination of formal education and on-the-job experience in engine mechanics (preferably including an apprenticeship).
  • Vocational qualifications from a reputable institution in a relevant field.
  • A valid driver's license for local travel.
  • A minimum of basic-level experience in field service operations.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of engine products and customer-facing skills.
  • A willingness to adapt to rotating shift schedules (FIFO 2/1 Roster) based in Newman/Tom Price Region.
