Geotechnical Engineer Role Overview

This is a key position that will play a significant role in delivering smart, safe and cost-effective geotechnical solutions for our open pit operations.

The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for designing functional pit walls, collaborating across teams and unlocking the full potential of our Mineral Resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct geotechnical mapping of high walls and core logging of drilling programs to gather relevant data for informed decision-making.
  2. Perform geotechnical evaluations and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and provide sound recommendations.
  3. Monitor and assess geotechnical designs and pit slope stability to ensure the continued safety of personnel and equipment.
  4. Design and implement de-pressurisation drilling programs as required to maintain a stable environment.
  5. Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, engineers and operators to optimise outcomes and improve mining plans.
  6. Propose safe and cost-effective mining plans to key stakeholders to drive business growth.
  7. Identify and implement business improvement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in geology or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in geotechnical mapping, design and implementation.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
