The Wallenius Wilhelmsen team manages a diverse array of shipments, handling well-known automotive brands as well as specialty cargo such as boats, caravans, and helicopters.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Yard Planner to join our Planning & Cargo Team. This role involves overseeing the movement of new and used vehicles, heavy equipment, and breakbulk cargo through our terminal.

Reporting to the Planning & Cargo Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities

Managing yard, cargo, and berth allocation while ensuring compliance with established processes and guidelines. Optimizing terminal planning to enhance cargo throughput efficiency. Collaborating with key stakeholders, including Stevedores, Shipping Lines, and Carriers. Maintaining accurate data entry and system updates to maximize resource utilization. Monitoring performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement. Supporting the overall objectives of Wallenius Wilhelmsen by working closely with internal and external partners. Leading daily operational meetings with Stevedores. Ensuring efficient yard processing in collaboration with terminal users and carriers. Conducting data tracking and forecasting. Updating and maintaining the vessel schedule. Qualifications

What You Will Need to Succeed

A degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience in logistics principles, particularly DMAIC and Six Sigma methodologies. Strong technical aptitude and understanding of logistics operations. Ability to implement and manage key performance indicators effectively. Critical thinking skills to identify and implement process improvements. Knowledge of Australian Government regulations related to Quarantine and Customs. Exceptional leadership abilities to guide teams in meeting contract requirements. Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude towards customer relations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
