Empowering Independence

The Disability Support Worker plays a vital role in empowering individuals living with psychosocial disabilities and/or mental health conditions to live independently, engage with their communities, and achieve their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver supportive services to clients with psychosocial disabilities, promoting their overall well-being and autonomy.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and domestic tasks.
  • Support clients to develop independent living skills and participate in social, recreational, or vocational activities.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and recovery-oriented practices to promote positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including progress notes and incident reports.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless collaboration.
Requirements
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or a related field is highly valued.
  • A deep understanding of mental health conditions, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care is essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
