Strategic Advisor to Professional Standards

The Professional Standards Council of New South Wales is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to serve as a member of the Council. As a key advisor, you will play a vital role in shaping the standards and practices of professionals in New South Wales.
The Council's primary objectives include:
- Monitoring associations' compliance with professional standards schemes.
- Providing strategic advice to Ministers on professional standards and regulation.
- Encouraging self-regulation among associations and protecting consumers.
- Delivering research, resources, and information on professional standards and regulation.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience at a senior level in a profession or professional association, occupational regulation, or consumer protection.
- A background in areas such as accounting, legal services, financial services, built environment services, or finance/audit/risk management.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to fulfill statutory and financial responsibilities.
As a member of the Council, you can expect a time commitment of approximately one to three days per month, including reading comprehensive papers for meetings. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to complex statutory decision-making from an industry and government perspective.
